Mite and Worm Prevention

Qld Guinea Pig Refuge does not have an actual 'Refuge'.  All our
guinea pigs live with foster carers in their homes.

The Refuge holds
open days on the first and third Saturday of every month at the Bald Hills Scout Den, 508 Bracken Ridge Road, Bracken Ridge.

Open days provide an opportunity to meet our guinea pigs on foster care, adopt, visit our QGPR Piggy Shop, and purchase food and hay.  You can also have your guinea pig groomed at our Piggy Parlour, which offers nail trims, mite and worm treatment, bathing (during warmer months only), grooming and clipping.  Don't forget to ask about our loyalty programs!

Please note that adoptions of our guinea pigs are only available at open days and require prior approval!  Click here for more information.

Our volunteers are more than happy to trim your piggy's nails for you at open days, via appointment or during boarding stays. We ask for a gold coin donation in exchange for this service.  Bathing is only available during the summer months.

An oral mite and worm treatment can be administered to your guinea pigs at open days. To prevent mites and worms, this treatment should be done every three months. Please contact us to make a time or arrange to visit an open day and treat your piggies. Cost is $5 per guinea pig.
QGPR thanks
Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery
for their ongoing support.
