Meet Tamara

How did you become a piggy volunteer and foster parent?
I found the refuge a few years ago and started coming along to help. I became a foster carer 2 years ago when we desperately needed foster homes. I’ve had piggies for 7 years now and, with my friend, we have a fun Facebook page for our old boys Taco and Diego. I love my boys Eddie, Bertie and Snickers. They enjoy watching tv and eating healthy snacks.

Most memorable piggie moment?
One of my most memorable moments is when I had my piggy Taco on my lap and he looked me in the eye and peed down my leg.

Another great moment is when he escaped his outdoor cage but I played the sound of him wheeking and he cage trundling out and went into his pigloo.

What is something people may not know about guinea pigs?
One thing I’ve learned is the secret poop snack. It still amazes me that they eat their own poop from their bottoms.

What do you specialise in at the refuge?
I specialise in nails and Ivomec at Piggy Parlour and set up!

QGPR thanks
Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery
for their ongoing support.
